The station is on the Victoria Line and the London Overground Gospel Oak to Barking Line, in Travelcard Zone 3 and is the least used station on the Victoria Line with 6.179 million passengers per year.

Blackhorse Road Tube StationThe original spelling Was Black House Lane, as the road takes it’s name from an old black house, being on the site of an old clock house. It became Blackhorse Lane, then Road, at later date, the change having connections with the local East London dialect.

Blackhorse Road station originally opened on 19 July 1894, and was situated east of Blackhorse Lane; the present tube station opened on 1 September 1968, having been built west of the road to accommodate the newly-built Victoria Line.

At first, the two stations existed separately side by side; Victoria Line tube maps showed no interchange at the station, and it is only in comparatively recent years that in-barrier interchange has been provided.
