Northwood Hills tube station is a London Underground station on the Metropolitan Line, in Zone 6.
In the northbound direction the station is served primarily by trains to Watford, and occasionally at peak commuting times by ‘slow’ Amersham and Chesham trains (‘fast’ trains do not stop at stations between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Moor Park).
In the southbound direction off-peak services generally terminate at Baker Street, while at peak times some trains continue to the Metropolitan Line’s current terminus at Aldgate. In both directions trains generally run every 10 minutes under normal operation at off-peak times.
Under the current timetable, direct train services on weekdays and Saturdays from the station to Central London begin at 5.42am and end at 11.55pm. One further train at 0.05am allows a connection to Baker Street. Trains to Wembley Park continue until 0.50am. Hours of operation on Sundays are slightly reduced.
History
The station opened on 13 November 1933. There was a competition for the name and Northwood Hills was the winning entry.
The area is, in fact, lower than Northwood.
