Without doubt this is a very good lateral thinking move and for what I have observed in the areas aforementioned (for shopping purposes), business activity seems to be benefitting local shopkeepers.

So now for your next 'chess' move cllr Clyde Loakes: 'dropped kerb' in front of houses with/for disability badge holders = will stop unsolicited parking in one swift move = checkmate!

Best Regards,

I have written to heid Alexander about this as the consultation that was promised and review on hours of operation did not happen - we were told that this this was not a tax- it is and that the permit money could only be used for roads- another area of not happening.

The zone is not across the borough and not uniform in Manor Lane area so it is an unfair tax- either make the whole borough sensible hours of operation and zone or remove the lot.

Why also do you have to have a series of zones- if people are paying extortionate amounts they should be entitled to have acees to parking- I am not a 'commuter tourist' I have lived there 36 years

Hi,
They've done it again at the Somerford Grove Newlon Housing Estate just last week. We went to the Newlon meeting in which case they mentioned they will inform the parking service in this matter. We've been getting the permits for 5 years untill this car free zone rubbish was invented by Newlon Housing. Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks
Taha

Can the council (Barnet) compel you to pay for a ticket by phone, in the event that one has already tried to pay at three machines, unsuccessfully (all out of order)?

Croydon Council's proposed extension of parking restrictions in "parking sub-zones" is preposterous. It penalises the residents who support Council's finances.
As it is lack of Parking Bays force residents' visitors to park on yellow lines during the off-peak hours. the new restrictions will impose unnecessary burden on family & freinds who cannot visit the residents after midnight unless they pay the ever-increasing parking charges.
It will have adverse social impact especially when the present Coalition Govt is trying to instil & revive more community spirit & family life.
If these proposals will only raise Council's revenues, then they should look somewhere else, instead of penalising Residents in the "outer parking sub-zones".

Mr Thomas said: “We can raise the income we need either by cutting back on services or by imposing charges.

HOWEVER, they are imposing extra charges AND cutting back on services.

These proposals will have a severe impact on residents and visitors to the area alike.

Mr Thomas is trying to get a few people to plug a revenue gap which has been caused by POOR planning over many years.

Please please, please write to object. We can win this!

Residents, alongside the families and friends who visit them, are fighting hard against these proposed plans and have until 4th February to object in writing or via email to the Council.
A residents' protest website has been set up at www.croydoncouncil.com filled with information on what to do, sample letters, email links, twitter and Facebook links and a forum for people to air their views and offer support.
People power won the day last time and can do so again if enough people join in. Don't leave it to someone else - protest now.

I had exactly the same experience in Eastcote High Street where I normally pay to park because I'm usually away for more that 30 minutes. This time I knew I would return in less time, and found a penalty notice on the windscreen. Most authorities use a separate parking restrictions notice board indicating 30 minutes free parking usually near shops (e.g. Ealing), with no requirement to display a ticket: clear and unequivocal. Why does Hillingdon have to be so perversely obfuscatory? (Nice little earner?)

Significantly, my pentalty notice says I was 'parked without clearly displaying a Pay & display ticket or voucher': how can I display a PAY and display ticket if I don't need to PAY for it?

I have submitted a written appeal and am awaiting a decision

I have submitted I written appeal against the penalty notice. Any advice as
