Free Parking Boost For Businesses In Richmond

icontexto-webdev-social-bookmark-09All Council run and operated car parks in Richmond upon Thames will be free on August bank holiday Monday, as the Council continues to support businesses and tourism by making shopping and visiting as easy as possible.

Many of the borough’s car parks are free on weekends and bank holidays already, but the Council’s decision this week to allow free parking in all car parks provide a welcome boost for shoppers, shop owners and visitors.

Cllr David Trigg, Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking said: “We want to bring as many visitors to the borough during the bank holiday as we can, and by allowing free parking in every single one of our car parks it makes it easier for everyone to eat out, shop and enjoy the amazing atmosphere here.

“The Council always encourages people to consider walking, cycling and using public transport, but we know this isn’t always possible and while we’re all feeling the effects of a recession, I’m sure residents would rather spend their money in shops than at a parking meter.”

The decision to provide free parking in the borough’s car parks follows the success of the same initiative during the late May bank holiday.

The additional car parks which will become free for the day on Monday August 31 are:

  • Old Deer Car Park (Off A316 TW9 2RA)
  • Old Deer Extension (Off A316 TW9 2RA)
  • Friars Lane Car Park (Off Richmond Green TW9 1NL)
  • Paradise Road Car Park (Richmond TW9 1SQ)
